Meet Amber, one of our incredible team members who started her career at Gungho as a Business Discovery Agent before quickly moving into a Team Leader position at the beginning of 2023. In this interview, we dive into Amber’s journey at Gungho and discover what it’s like to join our team as a fresh recruit.
What were you doing before you joined Gungho?
So, before I joined Gungho, I had worked in several different job roles. My CV is quite diverse; I have worked in hospitality, care work, and the leisure industry. However, I was really looking for a job with clear progression opportunities. I felt that the roles I had previously held didn’t offer the career advancement I was seeking. I was eager for something new, and that’s when I stumbled upon Gungho on Indeed and thought, ‘Why not give it a try?’
What is the most enjoyable part of your role at Gungho?
One aspect of my role that I particularly enjoy is the research element – I get to continuously expand my knowledge and understanding of the RegTech world, which is something I find really interesting. Recently, I’ve also had the opportunity to take on the role of Team Leader which has been an incredible experience; being responsible for a fantastic team of people is both rewarding and fulfilling. I take great pleasure in supporting and guiding my team members, helping them grow both personally and professionally. Beyond the work itself, the camaraderie within our team is something truly special. Everyone genuinely wants each other to succeed in their respective roles, creating a wonderful and uplifting environment to work in.
How easy was it to understand the role of a Business Discovery Agent (BDA)?
As I mentioned, I have worked in lots of different industries but I haven’t ever done anything directly in marketing so this was completely new to me. From day one, the training programs and the hands-on support available were incredibly comprehensive. The training sessions cover everything you need to know and provided guidance on how to be successful, regardless of whether you are new to the industry. The initial training as a BDA is extensive, and it doesn’t matter if you are new to this field. The training equips you with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel.
How was the training when you first started your role at Gungho?
The training was excellent! It consisted of a combination of classroom sessions and hands-on IT sessions where we learned about the CRM system and gained a better understanding of the day-to-day expectations of a BDA – I thrive in a classroom environment, so I really enjoyed the classroom sessions. The training sessions also provide you with a solid foundation and equip everyone with the fundamentals of Compliance, which you continue to build upon throughout your time at Gungho. You also cover topics such as Cyber Security, Data Protection, and GDPR, for which you then attend an annual refresher. Additionally, there were call coaching sessions once we were up and running, which were really helpful.
It’s worth noting that 90% of the people at Gungho started in the BDA role, so you truly benefit from the expertise and guidance from those around you. You’re learning from those who have been in your shoes!
