By May 27, 2022July 11th, 2022No Comments

Feeling anxious, nervous, or excited for your interview with Gungho? Are you a candidate currently going through our interview process?  If so, you may find the tips and advice below useful.  These have been lovingly put together by our Operations Managers, who lead the interview process. They want you to be successful at interview. The Gungho team is growing, year on year, and people like you are an important part of our expansion plans.  With these handy tips, you can come better prepared for the interview process and completely nail it on the day!

1. Research Gungho and the work that we do

It is the simplest – but reading the Gungho Marketing website and social media accounts will supercharge your understanding of our work.  There are oodles of articles on our website, and we encourage you to read a few of them before coming in to meet us.

You can also find plenty of information on our LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Spending time researching our people and our business is going to help you understand the field we work in and to feel confident that this is a company you would like to work for. Whilst researching, if you come across any details that you would like to know more about, we encourage you to bring it up during your interview so that we can discuss this in detail and answer any questions you may have.

2. Practise answering interview questions

Reviewing commonly asked interview questions is a great tool for preparing for any interview. The number one thing we look for is great communication skills, so think about how you may want to respond to questions in an eloquent, articulate, and positive way and you will be well on your way to smashing the interview.  Here are some of the common questions we like to ask our candidates…

How familiar are you with having KPI’s & targets?  Key performance indicators (KPI’s) are used within Gungho to gauge individual performance against targets. With this question, we are trying to uncover whether you understand what it might be like to work towards targets, and how comfortable you feel with trying to reach regular KPI’s. Our business is target driven and all our staff are expected to reach attainable goals, outcomes, and expectations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Can you share some examples of when you have had to work in a team? And what did you like about it? We like to look for candidates that enjoy being part of a team and working towards a common goal, so finding some examples of this can really help demonstrate your passion for teamwork.

What jobs have you done previously where you had to quickly learn & develop new skills in a short space of time?  Most of our successful candidates have little to no experience of working in marketing, sales or RegTech, so; be prepared to discuss your willingness to learn and develop new skills.  Talking about situations where you have been out of your comfort zone and have had to learn on the job, showing a ‘can do’ attitude will stand you in good stead!

3. Think of questions for us!

As much as an interview is designed for us to work out if you are our next Business Discovery Agent, it is also an opportunity for you to work out if this is the job you have been looking for! Be curious about our work and how we operate and remember; no question can be too ‘dumb’ or ‘off radar’! Here are some questions you might ask:

  • What is a typical day like for a person in this position?
  • What is your favourite thing about working for this company?
  • What are the next steps in the hiring process?

Prepare travel arrangements

This seems very simple, but remember to figure out how long it will take to get to our office from your home and what mode of transportation will be the most convenient on the day of your interview. Having your travel planned out can ensure you arrive on time – it is never a good look if you are late!

Finally

The interview process is designed to get to know each other better and find out what makes you tick!

Try not to worry if it is it’s all new and remember; the Managers interviewing come from different backgrounds and careers, and they all started as a Discovery Agent too.  When you join Gungho, extensive training is provided to support you in becoming a fully competent member of our team in just 16 weeks.

And lastly, thank you for considering Gungho as an employer. There are endless jobs that you would be brilliant at, and we know that someone like you is in high demand, so we are thrilled that you are thinking about a career with us and can’t wait to meet you!
